Cats are self-cleaning by nature, so full baths are rarely necessary — and for most cats, deeply stressful. Here's a bath-free grooming routine that works.
Start with a steam brush. A gentle warm mist loosens dirt and loose fur without soaking your cat, then soft bristles brush it away. Our 3-in-1 Steam Grooming Brush is built specifically for bath-hating cats and dogs.
Brush in the direction of fur growth, 5-10 minutes at a time, ideally when your cat is relaxed (after a nap or meal).
Use a deshedding comb for mats. Long-haired cats especially need a metal comb to catch tangles before they become painful mats near the skin.
Reward with treats. Positive association turns grooming into something your cat tolerates — even enjoys — over time.
Trim nails separately, using treats and short sessions rather than trying to do everything in one sitting.
A consistent 2-3x weekly routine keeps most cats clean, shiny, and shed-free — no bath required.
